Gua Sha treatment
What is Gua Sha treatment?
Guasha is a traditional massage technique from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). A smooth scraper made of materials such as horn, stone or stainless steel is stroked over the oiled skin.
The aim of the method is to promote blood circulation, stimulate lymph flow and release blockages in the tissue. «Gua» means scraping, «Sha» describes the reddening of the skin. Guasha is often used in addition to acupuncture, cupping, manual Tuina massage and heat therapy using moxibustion.
What symptoms does Gua Sha treatment help with?
Gua Sha is often used for tension in the neck and back area as well as for stress-related headaches. The method is also used to strengthen the immune system at the first signs of a cold, to relieve muscle pain after sport or to reduce swelling in the face. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Gua Sha is generally used to harmonize the flow of energy (Qi) and activate metabolic processes.
How much does a Gua Sha treatment cost?
A treatment at TCM Seerose costs between 120 and 156 francs, depending on the services provided. During the treatment, I typically combine several TCM therapies tailored to your symptoms.
Since I am recognized by the ErfahrungsMedizinisches Register, most supplemental health insurance plans for complementary medicine will cover a portion of the treatment costs. Please check with your supplemental insurance provider before your treatment.

What are the possible side effects of Gua Sha treatment?
They are characterized by temporary redness and small blood spots (petechiae) under the skin, which disappear by themselves after two to four days. They are intentional and signal the activation of blood circulation. Occasionally, slight muscle soreness or increased sensitivity to pressure may occur. However, the massage should not be performed if you have acute inflammation, injuries or are taking blood thinners.
